Blue Petes Restaurant

Before 1972 the property was a Marina and Fish house. In 1972 Pat and Betty Ann Ricks opened Blue Pete's. It was a small place with seats for about twenty people, a bar, country music, fish bait, beer, Pool table, sandwiches and a beautiful setting right on Tabernacle Creek. The restaurant has grown over the years. Its goal still is to provide a variety of good, fresh seafood and great Certified Angus Beef in a friendly and homey atmosphere.

Today the restaurant is owned by twin brothers Nicholas and Aristotle. They were born and raised in the Back Bay area. Growing up they became avid hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen. Their love for this area, good people, great food, and the country lifestyle is what has inspired them to acquire Blue Pete's and provide a place for locals to come together and enjoy themselves.

"Blue Pete" is another name for a bird commonly known as a "coot". At one time Back Bay and the surrounding ponds in Pungo were filled with these Birds and also many other species of ducks and geese. Tabernacle Creek, which runs behind the Restaurant, and Back Bay were some of the greatest freshwater fishing and hunting grounds in the country. People came from all over the United States to hunt and fish these waters.

1/2 lb. of steamed, wild caught shrimp served with cocktail sauce, butter & lemon.

Fresh Steamed Clams

1 dozen fresh Atlantic clams steamed and served with cocktail sauce, butter & lemon.

Crispy Calamari

Lightly fried and seasoned calamari, tossed with parmesan cheese. Served with sides of marinara and thai chili sauce.

Blackened Tuna Bites

Blackened ahi tuna bites seared and served with wasabi cream sauce.

Coconut Shrimp

Coconut breaded jumbo shrimp served with our house-made raspberry dipping sauce.

Mahi Imperial

Our most popular dish! Grilled or blackened Mahi topped with a lump crab cake and drizzled in our award winning she-crab soup.

Marinated Ribeye

A tender,12 oz ribeye marinated in a honey teriyaki sauce.

Fried Shrimp

A generous portion of friend shrimp lightly breaded and flash fried for a flavorful crisp.

Crab Encrusted Salmon

Blackened or grilled salmon topped with a creamy mixture of lump crab meat, parmesan and bread crumbs and broiled to perfection.

Brownie Sundae

A warm, home made fudge brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Sweet Potato Bread Pudding

Our signature sweet potato biscuits baked into a delicious bread pudding served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and our homemade praline sauce.

Premium quality flounder filet stuffed with lump crab meat, spices and breadcrumbs then topped with our award winning she-crab soup.

Chicken Parmesan

Lightly breaded chicken breast topped with provolone cheese and served over linguine with marinara sauce.
